Welcoming Address

It is our great pleasure, as Conveners of the IX International Mango Symposium to invite you to participate in the IX International Mango Symposium in Sanya, Hainan Island, China, 8-12 April, 2010.

The International Mango Symposium is a long-established and well attended event that is held every 3-4 years. After having been held in India, USA, Australia, Israel, Thailand, Brazil and South Africa, it is for the first time to be held in China. Currently China is the second largest producer of mango and also arguably the largest market for commercial mango products due to its largest population in the world. This conference will be a unique opportunity for all those involved in the mango industry worldwide to share their knowledge and experience among them, to appreciate the knowledge and achievements made by their Chinese counterparts and most importantly to understand the Chinese market and start to establish connections.

With the aide of a large and experienced International Scientific Committee, this symposium will generate a broad and relevant program of scientific presentations, technique tours, practical workshops and a trade exhibition. A number of pre- and/or post-Symposium tours to mango farms, processing plants, supply chains and breathtaking natural, historical and cultural sites on the Island and in mainland China will make your visit to China one of your best travels.

We hope you are able to come and be a part of this symposium, and at the same time experience one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world.

See you in Sanya in 2010.
